Untrue things we, as a society, like to believe:
- Fairness exists, including reward for merit and punishment for misdeed.
- With enough work, we can banish all of our negative feelings and leave ourselves filled with only sunshine and unicorn kisses. (Not only that we can but that we should)
- We can do or achieve things autonomously. (Not only that we can but that it’s virtuous to do so.)
That’s, of course, a short list but I think a good start.
